I am an Advanced Personal Trainer with a passion for health and fitness who specialises in weight loss and the development of feminine tone. Unlike most personal trainers I have a very selective clientele as I dedicate myself solely to working with career orientated professional women aged 30 – 55 years who want to lose weight, get into shape, feel more energised and have that air of confidence that can only be achieved when you have that feel good factor you get from an active healthy lifestyle.
I deliver a mobile professional training service in the privacy of my client’s homes or their work place in the morning or lunch times which allows them to fit their personal training into a busy schedule. I work in Lanarkshire and Glasgow. The vast majority of my clients live in Bothwell, Uddingston, Hamilton, Rutherglen and Cambuslang. I am willing to travel to most areas of Glasgow to train truly committed clients.
I genuinely care for each and every client I train and strongly believe in a holistic approach to improving their health and fitness, it is about the mind, the body and the spirit – I don’t just do press ups! In addition to an excellent tailored training package designed specifically to ensure my client’s reach their individual goals I also provide a full support package in the form of ‘Customer Care’ telephone calls and Skype ‘Coaching Calls’ to ensure that my client’s never have to feel alone on their personal journey back to health and fitness.
The benefits to my clients are that they are being trained by a vastly experienced and knowledgeable fitness professional who in addition to being an Advanced Personal Trainer is also a Tae Kwon Do black belt who has competed successfully at the highest level in his chosen sport. I literally ‘walk the walk and talk the talk’ in every sense of the word because I understand what is required to get people into shape using only tried and tested intelligent training methods enhanced by my martial arts background that are designed specifically to get the results my clients desire and deserve. I am also a fully qualified Remedial & Sports massage therapist with an extensive knowledge of anatomy and physiology which compliments my personal training expertise.
I only train committed, professional people who know what they want in life, but are intelligent enough to acknowledge that they need help to lose weight and get into shape.
Why do I only train professional people?
Simple, I am a retired police officer who understands the demands that can be placed on the mind and body when performing a highly responsible and stressful job, often working long and irregular hours including shift work. Eating when you should sleeping and sleeping when you should be eating! The outcome was that I went from being a very fit boxer and cross country runner in the Royal Air Force prior to joining the police to becoming very unfit within a few years working shifts and eating all the wrong foods at the wrong times of the day. As a consequence, I lacked the energy and the motivation to train because I felt constantly tired after years of shift work. My ‘work life balance’ was dictated by the nature of my chosen career and the restrictions placed on both myself and my family by shift patterns – not good.
Ironically, after a period of getting back into reasonable shape I suffered a serious back injury as a result of a horse riding accident. What followed was a very challenging time for me personally and professionally and even after months of physiotherapy and four years of rehabilitation I still experienced sciatica down my left leg which affected my ability to do any serious form of training and caused me to put on weight, despite my best efforts to attain some level of fitness.
The day that changed my life happened by default when I took my daughter along to the local Tae Kwon Do club to learn some self defence and decided to join in myself at the age of 42. I never looked back and that night was to shape the person I am today and the path I have taken in life. Ten years later I am a 2nd Dan black belt and have competed at the highest level – surely proof that age is just a number.
During that period I was training very hard whilst working shifts in a demanding and on occasion dangerous job. I could go on, but you get the picture! I was once on the career treadmill doing all the things you have to do to get promoted, so I understand that for most professional people their career comes first and that regular exercise is way down their list of priorities, but it doesn’t have to be like that.
So why do I stand out from the ‘PT crowd’?
Using my life experience and in depth training knowledge I have devised my own unique and innovative personal training packages designed to maximise the time professional people have to train which fits in with their personal circumstances and busy lifestyles. Most personal trainers train their clients in ‘blocks’ using resistance machines in a gym environment – I have turned this traditional and outdated concept on its head and train my clients in a more Intelligent and pragmatic way using their bodyweight and fitness equipment that allows the body to work within its natural range of movement. My sessions are undoubtedly enhanced by my years of martial arts training that adds a different and challenging dimension to my client’s workouts who are always kept guessing and never get bored. sweaty yes, but ‘bored’ never! This form of training cannot be taught on any personal training course or by attending a gimmicky ‘boxing’ or ‘high intensity interval training’ course when you can be a qualified instructor having completed a one day course. The skills and fitness levels I have attained are purely down to years of hard training, dedication and discipline to my art to develop my mind, body and spirit to be the best I can be – as I alluded to earlier, I don’t just do press ups. This holistic approach to training means that my clients also enjoy exclusive personal support from me throughout their journey along with other benefits that you will not get from your average personal trainer and not a resistance machine in sight!
